I Love Pinnacle Bank

It seems strange how our paths meet with someone and we think our paths will never meet again, but we do meet again.  The point to all of this is that over a year ago, I met a young lady, Leslie Godfrey who is a Senior Vice President with Pinnacle Bank.  A couple of friends brought her over to meet me and at the time I was not looking for a new bank, but I really enjoyed meeting her and liked her personality.  An occasion arose that I needed the services that Leslie and Pinnacle Bank provide and I could not be happier with their services.  I changed from a bank that I have been doing business with for years.  Leslie is so responsive to any need that my company has and all the folks at Pinnacle that I have worked with so far have had that “can do” attitude.

Just a shout out to Pinnacle and Leslie.  Just like our employees, we need to let our vendors, banks and suppliers,  know when they are doing a great job.

Google Review From A New Customer

The non-profit for whom I work recently decided to send out our first mailing. It is very important to us to use local businesses, and local women-owned businesses whenever possible. Burns Mailing and Printing, Inc was recommended to us and I know why! Working with Burns Mailing and Printing was a positive experience from start to finish. They are professional and timely. They are a one-stop shop for all printing and mailing needs. Since we are a non-profit, we are eligible for non-profit postage status, but had never applied. They encouraged us to do so, and Amy helped facilitate and expedite the process for us. We had help and guidance from Angela in the design department, resulting in a beautiful postcard. Everyone in the office is welcoming, kind and helpful. Phyllis Burns knows and understands business and non-profits. And even though our mailing was very small, we never felt or were treated like we were small or insignificant. We will use Burns Mailing and Printing for all of our mailing and printing needs going forward. They get Five Stars from us.

Burns Saves Non-Profit Organization Money By Assisting Them In Getting Non-Profit Postal Rates

Recently we helped a new non-profit customer obtain non-profit status at the USPS and saved them several hundred dollars in postage. Here is what they are saying about Burns;

Amy,
I just wanted to send a quick note to thank you for all of your help in getting our postal non-profit status approved! We had a couple of hiccups along the way and I am so thankful that you were there to facilitate.

Working with Burns Printing has been the best experience. Each one of you has been so kind and helpful throughout this process. I am really looking forward to our next project!

Thank you again- hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

You Can’t Get Postal Discounts, If You Don’t Have A Cleaned Up List

What does a clean list mean?  It means that the largest percentage of your addresses are deliverable by the United States Postal Service.  If your list falls below a certain percentage, you will be charged a surcharge by the United States Postal Service. How does the USPS know if your list contains bad addresses. They have a system, called Merlin, that  checks for address hygiene. The best way to clean up a mailing list is to run a NCOAlink update.  NCOA stands for National Change of Address, it is the database that the USPS keeps, that has every address in the United States.  Mailing companies, such as Burns, pays a license fee to be able to clean up our customer’s mailing list with the NCOAlink update software.  If someone on your list has moved, there is a good chance that the NCOAlink update will provide us with the new address. The good news is that we offer this as a FREE service, for our customers. After the list is clean up by the software that we are using we get back codes to tell us why an address may not be deliverable.  These are called Nixie codes.

Below is a chart showing what each Nixie code means.

After we clean up a customer’s list we send them the un-deliverable addresses with the Nixie codes so that they can see why they have a bad address. In some instances they can make changes and send back to us and they will pass the NCOAlink update and be able to mail.

Call me if you want to be insured that you list is cleaned up and that you get the best postal discounts available. Phyllis Burns – 865 584-2265 or email me at phyllis@burnsmp.com.

What Does It Mean To Be A Certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE)?

The first thing that it means is that it requires a lot of work to be certified by the state of TN.  Lots and lots of paperwork and an onsite visit by the Office of Diversity to inspect your corporate books and answering a lots of questions.  Does it mean that you are automatically going to be business because of WBE status.  Not at all, you still have to work at selling, estimating and when you do receive a contract, it means giving a quality product and great customer service. It also means that you will be listed on the Governor’s Diversity list of vendors, so that when companies are looking for a certified WBE company, it will be easy to find.  My second biggest customer found me on the Governor’s Diversity list and we have been printing for them for years. Is it worth all the work?  I think it is and I am working on getting certified in other states.

Do Direct Mail Companies Use Direct Mail?

Absolutely, we know that direct mail works and even if the recipient does not need the service offered at the time, they sometimes put it aside so that when they are ready to purchase or use a service that the sender is offering they have the information needed.  In fact, I am working on a direct mail campaign now.  I am targeting businesses within a 2 mile radius of our 6131 Industrial Heights location. The post card will have variable data, not only in the addressing area but in the body of the post card. With our digital press, we can print in color on both sides of the post card with variable data, all on  one pass of the press.

Our graphic design department will design a custom mailer for your company or non-profit organization.  Right now we are offering one hour of graphic design FREE to new customers.  This offer ends May 30th.
