Burns Mailing & Printing, a 35 Year Plan

Don't call it a dream

My late husband, Ken, liked to quote Dolly Parton’s saying that “you have to have a dream”.  Ken’s dream was owning his own printing company and he started that dream in our garage in 1981, 35 years ago.  My vision was more of a plan that included raising our children, educating our children and then joining Ken in the business.  I did that in 1990 when I left my job as Vice President of Toyota of Knoxville.  I have never regretted my decision because it gave us the opportunity to work together for many years and to build the business together.  I was 47 years old when I made the decision to join the Burns Mailing & Printing team. Some dreams and plans take longer than others.

USP Blue Earth Program

The United States Postal Service has a new option called UPS Blue Earth. It is an option to reduce the amount of return mail to sender for letter sized first class mail that contains personal protected information. This undeliverable mail can be identified, captured, destroyed and recycled in a secure manner using this new secure destruction service

In March, I celebrated my 26th year at Burns Mailing & Printing, Inc.  The business was started by my late husband, Ken Burns, in 1981 in our garage.  I have seen a lot of changes in the printing and mailing industry in those 26 years.  It has been a wild ride, but I love the business and all the great people who I meet along way.  Of course, I could not do anything without my great team of employees.

Direct Mail Spring Appeals for Nonprofit Organizations

Most nonprofit organizations know that a spring appeal and a Christmas appeal have the best chance for success.  A lot of my nonprofit customers are already gearing up to mail in April and May.  It is a great time for everyone to mail because after April 10th, 2016, the postage rates will be going down.  Start working on those direct mail projects.
