New Things, Old Things

Desk in our lobby was made by Ken’s Grandfather, Richard G. Burns

We embrace the new and cherish the old. The new at Burns is our new business offering promotional products. Today we put up a poster in our lobby to let customers know of this new service. It hangs above a desk made by hand by Ken’s Grandfather. The pegs to hold it together are hand carded by Richard G Burns, Blount County Tennessee’s oldest survivor of the Spanish American war. He lived to be 94 and had many stories to tell of his work as the manager of sawmills. Ken, my late husband, lived with him for a good portion of his life. He told me once that he wished he had been more attentive to the stories that he told. He was 6’4″ and his wife was not 5 feet. They were quite a pair.
