Today Is Grand Puppy Day

June 15, 2018

For  next two weeks I will be having a special guest, Grand Puppy, Lincoln. He will be visiting while my granddaughter Kate goes to camp and my daughter Joy and her husband John take a vacation.

Lincoln is a very sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  They are very laid back and loving dogs.  He will love coming to work with me and getting all the attention from my employees.

It will be really different at my house after not having a pet for over 10 years.  That is what Grand Puppy’s are for, you love them, spoil them and send them back home.

Reputation Is Everything

June 12, 2018

My son-in-law, John Day, a trial lawyer in Brentwood, TN, publishes a newsletter every quarter that goes out to other lawyers.  We print and mail it for John so I often read it.  The subject on his latest newsletter is about Reputation. Reputations can be good or in some cases bad. A quote in John’s newsletter is “ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right”. (Potter Stewart) That says a lot about any business or person. Is doing what is right always the easiest, not it is sometimes the hardest thing but in your heart if you know it is the right thing to do, then do it.

I had an example of this today.  There was some confusion about a mailing date for a customer and we thought that we knew when he wanted his post cards mailed.  Turns out we mailed it a little earlier than he wanted, so I told him we would print another post card for him to be mailed on the date that he desired.  Did I lose a little money, yes, but the most important thing is that I have my reputation as a company intact and that means everything to me.

John’s reputation as a good lawyer is know state wide and beyond, but he is one of the most ethical  men that I know. He is a good Dad, husband and family man.

About Burns Mailing & Printing

June 1, 2018

Phyllis Robinette Burns, President

Burns Mailing & Printing, Inc. has been in business since 1981.  It was started by my late husband, Ken Burns, in our garage.  Ken was very good with anything mechanical and printing came very natural for him.  He put two presses together that were not running and made a working press.  After a couple of moves out of the garage, we built our current location at 6131 Industrial Heights Dr. in 1994.  This was the same year that both of our daughters got married.  If you think that building a building, moving a business and having two weddings all in one year is stressful, you would be right.  I was Vice President of a local car dealership and supported the family while Ken got the business going.  In 1990, I joined him and I have now been in the printing/mailing business for 28 years.  In 2010 Ken had a major stroke and could not work in the business and in 2014 he passed away with Leukemia. He was the love of my life.

I have a very professional and supportive staff with most of the employees being here for some time. The great thing is that if I cannot be at the business, I don’t have to worry that my customers are not being taken care of.  We pride ourselves with great customer service.  Their success is our success.

If you would like to find out about our great customer service for yourself, give us a call at 865 584-2265 or email me at phyllis@burnsmp.com for a free estimate. You can also set up an appointment for a free consultation about your project.  I think every good direct mailing or printing should start at inception.

We are 100% women owned and certified by the State of TN as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE).

Thank You To All Who Have Served

May 29, 2018

I was born in the middle of World War II.  I shudder to think what would have happened if we had not won that war. We were living behind the fence when my Dad was called up to serve in the Army but when they found out that he was working at Oak Ridge they sent him home.  He did not even know what he was working on until he heard it on the radio.

WOW! What Great Color We Are Getting Out Of Our New Konica Minolta Accurio C6085 Digital Press

April 6, 2018

We ran our first jobs on the new digital press yesterday after they finished the installation and the color and registration is EXCELLENT.  We also have finishing capabilities such as booklet making and stitching.  The thing that we did not have before was the banner capabilities.  I am not talking about banners that you hang with grommets,  but the ability to print much longer sheets of paper and other substrates.

We would love to have you schedule a visit and see for yourself the quality of color.

A reminder that Burns Mailing & Printing offers graphic design, offset printing, digital printing (we now have two digital presses) and direct mail service.  Why run all over town when we can do the entire project from the concept to the mailbox.  Call me, Phyllis Burns, at 865 584-2265 or email me at phyllis@burnsmp.com. We are a 100% women owned and certified by the State of TN as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE).
