» Blogs http://burnsonmailing.com Thu, 17 May 2012 20:14:30 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.1 Today I Crossed Over to Mac http://burnsonmailing.com/today-i-crossed-over-to-mac/ http://burnsonmailing.com/today-i-crossed-over-to-mac/#comments Wed, 15 Feb 2012 20:55:22 +0000 admin http://burnsonmailing.com/?p=501 Several persons here at work have called me a traitor for giving up my PC for a Mac computer.  Today is my first day of using the Mac and I wonder if I have indeed lost my mind.  I first started using the IPhone and loved it right away.  It was so easy to use without a big learning curve.  Then, at Christmas I got an IPad.  I really did not have a justifiable reason for getting one but the fact is I just wanted one.  It was so easy to use and I loved having it for sitting around at night playing and reading email and working.  The problem was that my PC did not play well with my IPhone and IPad.  I wanted to have one platform that when I added an appointment to my calendar it went to all of my devices.  That is when I got the idea to cross over to using a Mac at work.  A Mac is what I am using to type this blog so obviously I have figured some of it out.  Well, I really must credit my graphics department for setting everything up for me.  I think in a few weeks, after I have gotten use to the Mac, I am going to be a really happy camper.  I still have a PC Laptop at home so I really am AC/PC.  I love gadgets.

Kate, Phyllis and Ken

Things are changing rapidly in our world, some good and some not so good.  One of the good things, in my opinion, is the availability of using the web to market business.  Our business is such that our customer does not have to be located in the city where our business is located.  In fact, we have several customers who are out of state, some as far away as Alaska.   Graphic files can be downloaded, along with data base files and we can print and mail for our customers in a timely and efficient manner.

I recently decided to add this blog to our website for the purpose of sharing information about mailing and printing and to let potential customers get to know us a little better.  I know the very basics of blogging,  but last night I went to Barnes and Noble and purchased Blogging for Dummies.   It almost overwhelmed me with what all I did not know.  I had to sit back for a moment and tell myself that I could not learn it all at once, but I could learn it with just one step at a time.  I have never let ignorance stop me from doing anything I really wanted to do.  It probably should have stopped me many times but they say, “fools rush in where angels dare to tread”. So bear with me on this blogging thing, I am only up to Chapter I.
